Are You Willing To Pay the Price?

"All dreams have a price tag on them, and the cost is almost always higher than a person expects to pay."
~ John C. Maxwell

Many people believe that successful people are born that way. Or they believe that success came to them easy. But the truth of the matter is - It cost them something. They had to had to go through a process. They had to stretch. They had to sacrifice. They had to face challenges. You'll never hear a successful person say, "Getting to the top was much easier than I thought."
"There isn't a single person in the world who has achieved a dream without paying a price for it." ~ John C. Maxwell

You have to be willing to answer 'YES' to the Cost Question: "Am I Willing to Pay the Price for My Dream?" Before you can answer 'YES' to the Cost Question, you first need to know what the price is. If you don't know, then how can you choose to pay it? Therefore, investigate the steps that are required to achieve your goals. Count the cost.
"Is there anyone here who, planning to build a new house, doesn't first sit down and figure the cost so you'll know if you can complete it?" Luke 14:28 MSG

"Part of paying the price is the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. It comes from a declaration that you are going to get it done no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, no matter what comes up. It's a done deal. You are responsible for the results you intend." ~ Jack Canfield

There's No DREAM Without a TEAM.

"A dream is a compelling vision you see in your heart that's too big to accomplish without the help of others." ~ Chris Hodges

The author of this book (The Dream Book) that I'm doing the blog on is named - John C. Maxwell. He is one of America's top leaders. He's a Leadership Guru. He's fulfilling his dream. But if you listen to his story carefully, you'll notice that he didn't get to where he is by himself. Others helped him to achieve his dream.

Back in 1969 John graduated college and got married to a woman named Margaret. John had big dreams of building a large, influential church. Immediately after John got married, he accepted his first leadership position. The position was at a small church in rural Indiana and they didn't have much money. When John and Margaret met with the church's leaders, they offered him a salary of $80 a week. They told him, "John, you are free to pursue additional work to get some extra income to make ends meet." That's when John's wife Margaret stepped in and said,

"No. Even if the salary is part-time, John will give all his energy to the church full-time. He is going to become a great leader."
~ Margaret Maxwell

Margaret took on three jobs to maintain the household. She worked as a kindergarten teacher. She cleaned houses. She even worked part-time in a jewelry store. John is forever grateful of Margaret, because for so many years, she has been vital to his dreams.

"But I will never forget the empowerment I felt when she stood up for me and my dream that day so early in our marriage. None of my dreams would have come true without her."
~ John C. Maxwell

Can you answer 'YES' to the people question - "Have I Included the People I Need to Realize My Dream?"

"It's not enough to have a dream. You must also have a dream team." ~ John C. Maxwell

Who inspires you? Who encourage you? Who cheers you on? Who will tell you the truth? Who will lift you higher? These are the people that you need on your dream team.

"You can examine the story of any successful person who has achieved a dream, and you will find that he or she is surrounded by people who helped to make it happen." ~ John C. Maxwell

You Need PASSION to Dream.

"I have never seen anyone anywhere at any time achieve anything of any value without the spark of passionate desire!"
~ John C. Maxwell

Do you want to achieve your dream? Do you want to fulfill your vision? Do you want to accomplish your goals? Then you're going to need 'passion'. What is 'passion'? Passion is the enthusiasm that gives you energy and focus. Passion gives you power to keep moving forward and toward your future. Passion is the fuel you use to pursue your dream.

Without passion, you will go through the motions, but you will never reach your goals. Without passion, you'll try, but you'll quit before you fulfill your purpose. For example, I knew a lady who wanted to become a nurse, because she heard how much money they make an hour. So she decided to go to nursing school. Well, she was going through the motions. She was taking classes for a while. Things were going well until one day she had to change an adult's diaper. She wasn't prepared for that. Therefore, she ended up dropping out of nursing school. Why did she drop out? Why didn't she continue until she graduated? The answer is - She lacked passion. She was looking at the pay rather than the purpose; the benefits rather than the vision.

"Anytime you try to accomplish something of value, you will face adversity. Passion can help you get through it."
~ John C. Maxwell

You will have challenges on the road to success. That's why passion is so important. Passion keeps the dream alive, even when situations make it seem like it's dead. Let me end with a poem by William Arthur Ward:

Believe while others are doubting.
Plan while others are playing.
Study while others are sleeping.
Decide while others are delaying.
Prepare while others are daydreaming.
Begin while others are procrastinating.
Work while others are wishing.
Save while others are wasting.
Listen while others are talking.
Smile while others are frowning.
Commend while others are criticizing.
Persist while others are quitting.

Develop your passion. You're going to need it.
Get this book. You need to read it.

LET'S GET CLEAR ON SOMETHING...

"Give to us clear vision that we may know where to stand and what to stand for." ~ Peter Marshall

We have to answer the Clarity Question - "Do I Clearly See My Dream?" This is a very important step. You will have to answer 'yes' to this question before you can get very far in your dream. Is your dream clear? Is it precise? Vision is simple. Vision is specific. And once you're real clear on your dream, then you'll have a better aim.

"If you have a clear vision, you will eventually attract the right strategy. If you don't have a clear vision, no strategy will save you." ~ Mike Hyatt

Even in business or trying to create a brand, you have to identify your target audience. If you hear someone say, "Well, everybody's my target audience...", then they have no one for an audience. Because if you try to shoot for 'everything' you usually hit 'nothing'. Vision is simple, not broad. Dreams are identified, not spread everywhere.

"You have to identify the target before you try to hit it. You have to know what the landscape looks like before you can paint a picture of it to others. You have to see the dream with clarity before you can try to achieve it." ~ John C. Maxwell

Do you want to give meaning and significance to your life? Get a clear vision. Do you want to rescue a struggling organization? Get a clear dream. If you want to accomplish your dream, you're going to have to get specific. It can't be fuzzy, smokey, and unclear. If so, you'll never achieve your dream.

"The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: decide what you want." ~ Ben Stein

"If you see your dream clearly - and keep it in front of you continually - it will help you to understand what you must sacrifice and what you must dedicate yourself to in order to keep moving forward." ~ John C. Maxwell

WHO'S DREAM IS IT ANYWAY?.

Many young people find themselves in a situation where they are not doing what ‘they’ really want to do. They end up being what their parents want them to be. “Jr. is going to be a pastor” one father says. “After all, my father was a pastor. I’m a pastor. So you know Jr. is going to be one also.” Many times people will put on you what ‘they’ want you to be. But what is your dream? What did God put in your heart? It may go against your parents’ expectations. It may go against your family tradition. But until you’re doing the dream that God put in your heart, you will never be satisfied. You’ll always feel incomplete.

“They (young people) don’t know what they want to do. So they listen to their parents or friends and start in a direction for their lives that reflects someone else’s desires and dreams, not their own.” ~ John C. Maxwell

A mother will say to her adult daughter, “When are you going to get married, so I can have some grandchildren?” Therefore, she rushes to get married to please her mother. Or what about the young man who wanted to pursue acting? But his parents kept pressuring him to get a ‘real job’.

“Anytime you see people pursuing a midlife career change, you can almost be certain they had been living someone else’s dream and lost their way.”
~ John c. Maxwell

So ask yourself the Ownership Question – “Is My Dream Really My Dream?” If you can answer ‘yes’ to this question, then you’re off to a good start. If you answered ‘no’ to this question, then you need to get better connected with yourself and your dream. Once you do that, then you need to develop enough confidence to own up to that dream.

“God will help you be all you can be, but He will never help you be someone else.” ~ Joyce Meyer

Do what God has called you to do. Pursue the dream that’s in your heart. When you try to live someone else’s dream, your life becomes a nightmare.

THE DREAM BOOK

“Put Your Dream to the Test” By John Maxwell is the next book I want to explore for the month of August. My friends and I call this one 'The Dream Book'. I chose this book because it’s not only a great book, but it compliments “The Principles and Power of Vision” By Dr. Myles Munroe so well. Do you have a dream? Are you going after your dream? Do you want your dream to come to pass? Then this book is for you.

“It’s one thing to have a dream. It’s another to do the things needed to achieve it.” ~ John C. Maxwell

“Put Your Dream to the Test” is composed of 10 questions that will help you to not only see your dream, but seize it. Maxwell also says,

“If you’re willing to put your dream to the test – and do what’s needed to answer yes to the 10 questions – then your odds are very good for seeing your dream become reality.”
~ John C. Maxwell

You may be thinking, “I’ve got a dream. I think it’s worth pursuing. Now what? How can I know that my odds are good for achieving it? What are the 10 questions that I need to answer ‘Yes’ to?” Here’s What We’ll Be Discussing Below:

1. The Ownership Question: Is my dream really my dream?

2. The Clarity Question: Do I clearly see my dream?

3. The Reality Question: Am I depending on factors within my control to achieve my dream?

4. The Passion Question: Does my dream compel me to follow it?

5. The Pathway Question: Do I have a strategy to reach my dream?

6. The People Question: Have I included the people I need to realize my dream?

7. The Cost Question: Am I willing to pay the price for my dream?

8. The Tenacity Question: Am I moving closer to my dream?

9. The Fulfillment Question: Does working toward my dream bring satisfaction?

10. The Significance Question: Does my dream benefit others?

So take the journey with me to get a better understanding of this book, so we can answer ‘Yes’ to these 10 questions. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my BLOG. By doing so, you can LEARN as I LEARN and GROW as I GROW. So make sure that you leave your COMMENTS and continue to FOLLOW my BLOG. This is an AWESOME book! You can't go wrong with John C. Maxwell.

THE DECEPTION OF VISION

"You must realize that obstacles are going to come against you and your vision. Even though God gave the vision, that doesn't mean it's going to be easy to obtain. Please don't think that you are exempt from this reality. Trouble isn't going to say about you, 'I guess I'll just leave him alone.' When you decide to be somebody, everything is going to try to get in the way of your vision. You must be prepared for the challenges, for they are coming."
~ Dr. Myles Munroe

One of the biggest deceptions that many people face is believing that's it's going to be easy to fulfill your vision and achieve your dreams. We often look at the success of others, but fail to listen to their whole story. If you listen to anyone who's great, they will tell you there was a time that they had to struggle. There was a period when they had to stretch. They often had to sacrifice. If you fail to listen to that part of the story, then you're deceiving yourself into thinking that success is easy. You admire people's harvest without considering their seed. But how do you expect to reach the same level of success if you don't go through what they went through to get it? You want manifestation without the process. You want harvest without planting seeds. You want results without doing the work. No, no, no, that is deception. Don't fool yourself into thinking that your vision is going to happen by chance. And don't think for one minute that the enemy is not coming, because he's coming. But the Good News is, if you keep trusting in God, you will overcome.

"The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time." Psalm 34:19 NLT

So how do you overcome? How do you succeed in your vision? How do you finish the work that God has sent you to do when you're faced with opposition? The answer is - Whatever's in your heart has to be bigger than your troubles.

"The vision in your heart needs to be larger than any opposition that comes against you so you can persist in your life's purpose."
~ Dr. Myles Munroe

If you're going to quit everytime it gets hard, then you'll never win. You need to have the tenacity to withstand every opposition. That's called 'persistence'.

PERSONAL & CORPORATE VISION

"No great work was ever done by just one person. Many people are needed to fulfill a vision."~ Dr. Myles Munroe

The above quotation from Myles is so true. No great work was ever done by one person. You may just remember one person's name, but it takes many people to fulfill a vision. God gives you a personal, unique, fingerprint vision. But you need to realize that your 'personal' vision is part of a 'corporate' vision. A good example of this is your local church. Each person has their own 'personal' relationship with God, but they meet 'corporately' in a church building.

"You should not stay away from the church meetings, as some are doing, but you should meet together and encourage each other. Do this even more as you see the day coming." Hebrews 10:25 NCV

So there's obviously something that happens when you come together that doesn't happen when you're alone. There's something special about corporate anointing. You need to realize that two are better than one. One can put a 1,000 to flight, but two can put 10,000 to flight (Deuteronomy 32:30). So there's something that happens 10 times greater when you connect with others.

"Two are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed....Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT

Read this carefully. God doesn't give a vision to a group. He gives a vision to an individual. That individual shares his or her vision with other people and they see how their personal vision can be incorporated with that vision. They find a place for their vision.

"Personal vision will always be found within a larger corporate vision." ~ Dr. Myles Munroe

THE FINISHED BEGINNING

"You were created to accomplish something that no one else can accomplish."
~ Dr. Myles Munroe

In Dr. Myles Munroe's Book, "The Principles and Power of Vision", he began to explain how God created everything to fulfill a purpose. God is the most purposeful being that exist. He never makes vague inventions. He has a plan and purpose for everything and everyone. God has a plan for YOU.

"You may have been a surprise to your parents, but you were not a surprise to God; He has given you a special purpose to fulfill."
~ Dr. Myles Munroe

God doesn't create you and then try to figure out what He's going to do with you. No. He first determines a purpose, then He creates someone or something to fulfill it. God is in your future right now. God is in our eternity right now. He saw a need and a purpose, then He came back to create you to fulfill it. Your purpose is already completed in God.

"God began to do a good work in you. And I am sure that he will keep on doing it until he has finished it. He will keep on until the day Jesus Christ comes again."
Philippians1:6 WE

You were born to 'start'. You were created to 'begin'. God wouldn't have created you to 'start' if you weren't able to 'finish'. Therefore, you starting is evidence and proof that your purpose is completed. You're here on earth to manifest something that is already finished. God declares the 'end' in the 'beginning'. He begins with the end in mind.

"From the beginning I told you what would happen in the end. A long time ago I told you things that have not yet happened. When I plan something, it happens. What I want to do, I will do."
Isaiah 46:10

"We need to remember His order of working: He first tells us what the end of the matter is to be, and then He backs up and begins the process of fulfilling that end - just as a builder first develops an idea and a blueprint and then starts building."
~ Dr. Myles Munroe

Don't get distracted with the way things look now. Remember, you end looks completely different from your beginning. God is in your future right now, waiting on you to start what He already finished.

In His Righteousness,

Billie Miller

PREGNANT WITH VISION

As I was reading chapter one of Dr. Myles Munroe's book, "The Principles and Power of Vision" I got so much revelation. Let me add my input to the knowledge that's already in the vision book, so God can flood you with revelation.

When God gives you a vision, you become pregnant with it. In the natural, when a woman finds out she's pregnant, there are one of three things that are going to happen. She's either going to abort the child, have the baby, or unfortunately have a miscarriage. Likewise, the same is with people who are pregnant with vision.

1. Some People ABORT Their Vision.
2. Some People MISCARRY Their Vision.
3. Some People Give BIRTH to Their Vision.

PEOPLE WHO ABORT THEIR VISION:
These are the people who don't want vision. They don't have any dreams or goals. They don't really care. They just live day to day, que-sera-sera, whatever happens, happens. These are the POOREST people in the world, regardless of how much money they have.
"Where there is no vision, the people perish..."
Proverbs 29:18

To 'Perish' means to reduce to nothing; to reduce to the value zero; to vanish. Therefore, the people who don't have vision will disappear without a trace. These are also the most FORGETTABLE people in the world.

PEOPLE WHO MISCARRY THEIR VISION:
To 'miscarry' means to fail to achieve the intended purpose. Have you ever met a woman who keeps having miscarriages? She is very frustrated, because she wants to have a baby. But something keeps getting in her way. Likewise, people who miscarry their vision want the vision. They have dreams. They have goals. They just don't know how to achieve them. These are the most FRUSTRATED people in the world. Most people fall into this category. You see, they desire a good Life, but they just don't know the proper steps to take to make it come to pass. And because they don't know which steps to take, they tend to fall for Get-Rich-Quick schemes. They are subject to falling for false prophets. They're subject to being exposed to foolishness.

PEOPLE WHO GIVE BIRTH TO THEIR VISION:
This is the category that you want to be in. These are the Visionaries. A 'Visionary' is a person who has vision and are taking the necessary steps to get there. These are the most UNFORGETTABLE people in the world. Have you ever heard of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? UNFORGETTABLE. Have you ever heard of Albert Einstein? UNFORGETTABLE. Have you ever heard of Jesus? UNFORGETTABLE! And like them, you (right now) should be known for your vision. When I say 'Hershey' what's the first thing that comes to your mind? Chocolate. But 'Hershey' is a person's name. When you hear his name, you don't think of him. You think of his vision. He's known for his vision. When I say, 'Walt Disney', you think of a theme park. But 'Walt Disney' is the name of a man...a man with vision.

What is your vision? When people hear your name, what will they think of? What mark will you leave on this earth?

In His Righteousness,

The Vision Book

One of my favorite books of all time (besides the Bible) is a book called, "The Principles and Power of Vision" by Dr. Myles Munroe. My friends and I call it 'The Vision Book'. I've read a lot of books, but this one has really changed my Life. Therefore, this is the first book that I want to explore. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my BLOG. By doing so, you can LEARN as I LEARN and GROW as I GROW. So make sure that you leave your COMMENTS and continue to FOLLOW my BLOG.

This is an AWESOME book! You can't go wrong with Dr. Myles Munroe. This book will help you to discover your VISION. If you already know your vision, then this book will help you to develop it. Let's start with the introduction, which is titled, 'Life Without Vision'.

"Sight is a function of the eyes, but vision is a function of the heart. You can have sight but no vision." - Dr. Myles Munroe

One of the greatest gifts God gave us is not sight, but vision. VISION is the ability to see farther than your physical eyes can look. VISION is seeing the future in your present. It's a mental picture or image of your destiny. And until you discover your vision, you will live an unsatisfied life. You will live a frustrated life. You will live a poor life. The poorest person in the world is a person who doesn't have vision...regardless of how much money he or she has.

"I believe with all my heart that when you have no vision, you will simply relive the past with its disappointments and failures."
- Dr. Myles Munroe

This Book Will Help You Answer Crucial Questions Such as:

1. How can I know what my vision is?
2. What do I do if I have multiple interests?
3. What are some strategies for overcoming hindrances to my vision?
4. How can I set the right priorities for my life?
5. What should I do when others criticize my dream?
6. How can I make my vision a concrete reality?

By the time you finish this book, you will be able to say, 'I can see farther than my eyes can look!' You will be able to see not just what is, but also what can be, so that you can fulfill your personal vision." - Dr. Myles Munroe
